Customer Testimonials

Guiding commercial trips and running 12-week traditional wilderness living and travel courses means that I'm tough on gear. I'm used to things breaking, not working, and simply wearing out. Don's gear has taken more abuse than I care to put into words. I know that I can depend on it, and my clients are always commenting how beautiful everything is. From pole points to wooden wanigans to leather tump lines, Don has consistently provided me with hard to find traditional products made with outstanding quality.

Don made me a cook kit to order, one to perfectly fit all that I need for my traveling kitchen while leading holistic canoe trips for women. It is ruggedly crafted and most of my clients comment on it's beauty and versatility. We can use the lid as a cutting and food prep surface to boot. It has held up well for the past couple years and shows very little sign of wear. I love it and love knowing a local, one-person operation supported me on my journeys while I also supported him by purchasing it. I would recommend Don's hand-crafted items to anyone.

I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with the crooked knives I ordered from you last year. Until I came across your website I had been using a modified hoofer's knife because I wasn't able to find a quality crooked knife at an affordable price. Your [manufactured] crooked knives with the long, thin blades provide the flexibility and "proper feel" I was looking for. I use them for making cedar ribs and sheathing, self-bows, and stripping balsam fir poles.
Thanks for keeping the tradition alive!
